3D Printing

Using their iPads, students will design and print out a 3D creation of their choice. Students will learn about the process of 3D printing and the features within the app to create something unique. Once a 3D project is designed and printed, then students can take their creation home.

Students will learn needle threading and knot tying and will practice personalizing a piece of clothing by adding fun embellishments. We will also practice using a sewing machine and will complete a simple project. Students should bring a piece of clothing to personalize. No previous experience required.

Grade Level: 7th grade through 12th grade – contact instructor for exceptions

Description: This class is for students with experience operating quadrotors. Students will test their skills in flying quadrotors by racing and by competing in various playground games such as “capture the flag” or “red rover” modified to be played with quadrotors. The O’Neill cafetorium provides a large space for indoor flying with room for obstacles and race courses.  

All quadrotors and materials will be supplied by the instructor and class time will be devoted to allowing students to repair and rebuild broken drones.

 

Introduction to Quadcopters I

Grade Level: 4th grade through 9th grade – contact instructor for exceptions

 Description: Quadcopters (a/k/a quadrotors) have become an inexpensive vehicle to introduce students to a variety of aeronautical and controls concepts and universities often incorporate quadcopters into their aerospace lab curriculum. This class will introduce students to quadcopter theory together with actual “hands-on” flying of quadrotors in each class session. The O’Neill cafetorium provides a large space for indoor flying with outdoor flying as weather permits.

Each student in the Intro to Quadcopters class will be given a quadrotor to take home after the last class session.
