Introduction to Sewing

Learn the basics of machine and hand stitching: thread a needle, tie a knot, sew a patch and a button. We will use hand and machine sewing to make a simple home decor project with embellishments. For students with little to no sewing experience.

Introduction to Spanish

In this class students are introduced to Spanish: basic phrases, parts of the body, colors, numbers, family members, seasonal words and more. Students will play some Spanish games and learn to both read and speak basic words.  Parents receive materials to enable them to work with their children at home, if desired.

Full participation cooking class for students K-8th grade.  Recipe selections allow for students to explore essential cooking techniques using an assortment of kitchen tools and gadgets.  Individual and group recipes will be prepared.  Kitchen safety and ingredient & tool knowledge will be a part of each session.  All recipes will be nut free.  Parent participation is welcome, online sign up is available.  Students are encouraged to bring reusable containers to transport food samples home, but disposable containers will be available each week.  Students may bring an oversized T-shirt or apron to wear to protect clothing, if desired.

Do your kids like to get messy?  Introduce them to the science behind the mess!  This is a hands on science lab exploring chemistry with safe "kitchen chemistry" ingredients.  Students will build science vocabulary while forming hypothesis, making and recording observations, measuring, making conclusions and a lot more!

No prerequisites.

For students in fifththrough eighth grade, you’ll start to see the connections between English and its Germanic parentlanguage. We will learn greetings and geography, sports and sayings, family and food, traditions andtravels through practice and play together. If you’d like to know what “Gesundheit” or “Kindergarten”really mean, this is the class for you!
