Digital Game Design - Bloxels

Using the app Bloxels, students will learn how to create and animate their own characters, backgrounds, and gaming objectives. Students will learn to design a video game to their specific preference that they can play and share alongside with their classmates. Students will also use the hands on game board to help with designing their game.

(Students will need to bring iPad device with Bloxels app)

Gummi bears… …bratwurst…Kindergarten… saying “Gesundheit” when someone sneezes…all of these things are originally German. You probably didn’t even know that you can already speak some German! Join a lively class to learn German language and culture this fall. We will learn how to introduce ourselves and to use some basic phrases, understand how the alphabet and words sound different in German, as well as learn vocabulary about weather, colors, food, sports, and holidays through games, songs, interactive items, and guided practice.

Always wanted to learn to knit? Well here is your chance! In this basic hands-on class, students will learn casting on, binding off and the basic knit stitch. Students will also work on a simple project. Needles and yarn will be provided.

 Description: Quadcopters (a/k/a quadrotors) have become an inexpensive vehicle to introduce students to a variety of aeronautical and controls concepts and universities often incorporate quadcopters into their aerospace lab curriculum. This class will introduce students to quadcopter theory together with actual “hands-on” flying of quadrotors in each class session. The O’Neill cafetorium provides a large space for indoor flying with outdoor flying as weather permits.

Each student in the Intro to Quadcopters class will be given a quadrotor to take home after the last class session.
